Pastor Brian is a sought-after speaker, motivator, and author. Born and raised in Boston, MA, Brian is a self-proclaimed “church kid,” and the church is amongst his earliest memories. After graduating high school and being ordained at age 18, Brian studied voice at Berkley College of Music. This is when he met Karen Henriquez. Karen and Brian wed in 2007.

Karen, who also hails from “Beantown,” is the daughter of Salvadorian immigrants. Karen’s passion for Jesus and the church was ignited by serving her local church. Together, Brian and Karen’s desire to build the Church allowed them to serve in New England, Colorado, and North Carolina. After serving for over a decade, their paths crossed with Pastors Stephen and Zai Chandler and they began to serve as campus pastors of the BWI location of Union Church. In that year, they got a front-row seat to learning and leading in one of the fastest-growing churches in America.

As the vision for Union expanded outside of Maryland, there was a desire to push the limits of their faith. In that time of prayer, God gave Brian the vision for a life-giving church in Charlotte, and the idea to launch Union Church’s first out of state location.

Brian and Karen have a passion for the people of Charlotte and are eager to launch a church in the city that already feels like home. The Bullocks have two children, Summer (10) and Brian Jr. (8). They live in the Concord area of Charlotte and are eagerly anticipating adding a puppy to the family.
